This container indicates the number of calendar days that the buyer has to return an item. The return period begins when the item is marked "delivered" at the buyer's specified ship-to location.

You must set the value to one that's accepted by the marketplace and category where the item is listed. Most categories support 30-day and 60-day return periods. For a definitive list of return periods for one or more categories, call getReturnPolicies method of the Metadata API.

The TimeDuration type is used to set/indicate the return period, and you set the unit value to DAY and the value field to either 30 or 60 (or other value, as appropriate).

Note that this value cannot be modified if the listing has bids or sales, or if the listing ends within 12 hours.

Sample 1: Update a Return Policy

This example updates the default return policy.

Input

This example updates an existing return policy. Note that this is the only use case where you need to include the categoryTypes field in a return policy request. Remember, to specify a new return policy, you only need to indicate the marketplace where you will apply the policy and the categoryTypes.name field is hard-set to ALL_EXCLUDING_MOTORS_VEHICLES for return policies. However, when updating an existing policy, you must provide the entire policy object in your request payload, which includes the categoryTypes field.

To obtain a complete policy object, call getReturnPolicy using ID of the policy you want to update. Use the complete resource that's returned in your PUT request payload, and modify the fields you want to update.

Note that you cannot update all the fields in a return policy resource; for example, you cannot update the policy ID value.

PUThttps://api.sandbox.ebay.com/sell/account/v1/return_policy/5********0

Output

A successful call returns an HTTP status code of 200 OK and a response body containing the updated return policy.
